چکیده

In this paper we consider the continuous–time nonlinear filtering problem, which has an infinite–dimensional solution in general, as proved by Chaleyat–Maurel and Michel. There are few examples of nonlinear systems for which the optimal filter is finite dimensional, in particular Kalman’s, Beneš’, and Daum’s filters. In the present paper, we construct new classes of scalar nonlinear filtering problems admitting finite–dimensional filters. We consider a given (nonlinear) diffusion coefficient for the state equation, a given (nonlinear) observation function, and a given finite–dimensional exponential family of probability densities. We construct a drift for the state equation such that the resulting nonlinear filtering problem admits a finite–dimensional filter evolving in the prescribed exponential family augmented by the observaton function and its square. keywords Scalar Nonlinear Diffusion Processes, Finite Dimensional Families, Exponential Families, Stochastic Differential Equations, Scalar Nonlinear Filtering Problem, Finite– Dimensional Filters.

Three-dimensional calculations of the magnetic fields in a finite superconducting hollow cylinder in an applied axial magnetic field

In this study, a set of self-consistent coupled-integral equations for the local magnetic flux and current distributions in a finite superconducting hollow cylinder under an axial magnetic field has been directly derived by using the Biot-Savart law within the framework of the critical-state model. The equations were first solved numerically in the three-dimensional space before obtaining the h...

Three-Dimensional Finite Element Analysis of Stress Intensity Factors in a Spherical Pressure Vessel with Functionally Graded Coating

This research pertains to the three-dimensional (3D) finite element analysis (FEA) of the stress intensity factors (SIFs) along the crack front in a spherical pressure vessel coated with functionally graded material (FGM). The vessel is subjected to internal pressure and thermal gradient. The exponential function is adopted for property of FGMs. SIFs are obtained for a wide variety of crack sha...

A Novel Structure for Optical Channel Drop Filter using Two-Dimensional Photonic Crystals with Square Lattice

In the present paper a novel structure for optical channel drop filter (CDF) based on photonic crystal ring resonator with circular core has been proposed. In order to design the proposed CDF, the plan wave expansion (PWE) method is applied for calculation of band structure and photonic band gap while the transmission characteristics of proposed CDF have been calculated using the finite differe...

Approximate nonlinear filtering and its application in navigation

In this paper we introduce for the first time particle filtering for an exponential family of densities. We prove that under certain conditions the approximated conditional density converges to the true conditional density. In the realistic setting where the conditional density does not lie in an exponential family but stays close to it, we show that under certain assumptions the error of the e...
